Purefoods Fiesta Ham® Smoked Boneless

Purefoods Fiesta Ham® Smoked Boneless

I always look forward for the Christmas basket every December from the company I work for.  The basket basically is a big container full of grocery items.  There’s always ham included because it’s a traditional delicacy served during Noche Buena.

I remember that PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® has always been one of the brands that won the hearts of our office’s foodies’ during taste tests.  This is the reason why I have PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® for breakfast (and sometimes lunch/dinner) every December to January.

I don’t have a big family so one kilo of ham is more than enough for me.  However, I do know that a lot of Filipinos celebrate a lot of things and they would want to serve ham too on those occasions.  I’m pleased to share with you that there is now PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless which is available all-year round!  Isn’t that great?  Now, you can have your favorite holiday food item on your birthday, fiesta, graduation, picnic, reunions or a date even!

Purefoods Fiesta Ham

PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless uses only the finest ham leg.  From what I understand, the ham was hot-smoked (where the food is kept in the same place as the fire which is creating the smoke) and slowly cooked.

It weights around 1.5 to 2kg per piece and is priced at Php 800 per kilo.

I got myself a 1.7-kilo PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless.  What I appreciate about this product is that it was pre-sliced!  I’m such a lousy cook so this is a pretty nice surprise for me!  It’s going to be convenient for me to cook the ham as I can only fry pan this.  No complicated recipes for this foodie!

Purefoods Fiesta Ham sliced smoked boneless

PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless comes with a fruit-based ham sauce made from Passion fruit, Orange and Kiwi.  I sometimes eat the ham without the sauce but most of the time I do include it for that sweet fruity taste.

Purefoods Fiesta Ham Sauce

While I stick with the boring fried ham, other people have been creative with their cooking.  I’ve seen some recipes online where they used PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless to make crepes, kebabs, pasta and salad.  Well, possibilities are definitely endless.  With such a mouth-watering yuletide dish, adults and kids alike would be glad to have a ham dish in their dining table.

Gladly, we do not have to wait for Christmas anymore to go supermarkets and buy a PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM®!  There is now PUREFOODS FIESTA HAM® Smoked Boneless which we can enjoy all the time, anytime! 🙂

On Kissing and the New Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel

Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel

Creamy with a kiss of caramel na nakaka-inlove‘.  That’s the tagline of the newest Coffee-Mate flavor by Nestle Philippines.

When I saw the gift pack at my desk, I realized how cheezy this product is!!  Look at the packaging – hearts were printed all over it, the color was red and the shape of the box was like a candy.  Romantic is the word that came into my mind when I inspected it.

Creamy Caramel CoffeeMate Gift Pack

So Creamy Caramel is the newest flavor of Coffee-Mate.

I drink coffee whenever I feel a bit sleepy throughout the day.  Sometimes I put Coffee-Mate in it but sometimes I don’t.  It really depends on my mood.  This time though, upon seeing Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel, I had to try it out.

What would coffee taste like if it has a hint of caramel?

Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel

I invited a colleague of mine to taste Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel with me.  We put in the usual 1 tablespoon coffee, 1 teaspoon sugar and 2 tablespoons of Coffee-mate creamy caramel.

The drink was very fragrant, you can really smell caramel in it.  However, when we drank it, the taste of caramel was actually pretty light.  We still have the same creaminess in Coffee-Mate but we had this good after-taste of caramel.  Yummy!  I like this new flavor!

Nestle Coffee-Mate and Nescafe

Nestle Coffee-Mate Drink

I like the way Nestle is marketing Coffee-mate Creamy Caramel.  They connected coffee drinking with love.  In love, it’s the small things that made life more special and with coffee, a hint of caramel can slowly make you fall in love.  Nice connection, right?  I found it cute!

A new character was introduced by Nestle Coffee-mate Creamy Caramel to help people get that perfect creamy caramel kiss.  He’s Kisstopher and he’s the world’s greatest kisser!  Hahaha, so funny!  I was laughing while I was watching each of the videos that was out on YouTube!

Here are the videos they released so far:

Meet The World’s Greatest Kisser – Kisstopher Caramello – In the video, Kisstopher, with his partner Kisstina, shared to the world how simple it is to achieve that sweet, creamy, caramel kiss na nakakain-love.

How to Kiss : The Beso – In this video, Kisstopher shared to the world how beso can spell the difference in the language of love.  Do we beso with cheeks or with our lips?

How to French Kiss – In this video, Kisstopher, the world’s greatest kisser, shared how to perfect the French Kiss.

I loved watching the videos!  I was first worried about how Coffee-Mate can pull those videos through considering we are a conservative country.  Apparently, the kissing tips videos worked out pretty well and I was very much entertained!  I’m positive that Kisstopher Caramello will be a famous personality (if not already) real soon!  I can’t wait for the next batch of videos to come out!

What a great way to introduce a new product!  Coffee-Mate Creamy Caramel definitely had a great impression on me.

Marriott Manila Introduces Newly-Revamped Sunday Brunch

Marriott Manila Sunday Brunch

I rarely go to Pasay area as I live far away so when I got an invite to try out the newly revamped sunday brunch of Marriott Hotel, I had to decline it.  However, I don’t know what struck me but I decided to just go anyway.  Why would I miss the chance to try out Marriot Hotel’s very own food buffet?  I had to try it out!  Forget about driving far if an enormous amount of good food is waiting for me!

Call time was at 11AM.  I arrived 11:30AM and saw several bloggers already enjoying their food.  As much as I wanted to dive in and eat already, I wanted to take pictures first so that I can share my experience with you.  I went around Marriott Cafe and noticed the beautiful ambiance of the place.  Marriott Cafe has awesome design!  It was bright, classy and huge!!!

marriott cafe ambiance

I was glad I saw Yedy (one of my favorite bloggers).  I sat beside her and chatted away while we enjoyed the food at Marriott Cafe.

Mcafe roch and yedy

We, of course, chose to sit beside the juice section!  hahaha!  Talk about right positioning.  Hotels usually don’t offer unlimited juices in their food buffet so I was pleasantly surprised that Marriott Cafe included them.  M Cafe (another name for Marriott Cafe) has 2 juice stations and each station has a type of iced tea and milk shake!

Bloody Mary Bar

Our enjoyment that we sat beside the juice station was quickly overshadowed when we found the new Martini Bar!!!  Oh my gosh, this is heaven for people who love cocktails and alcohol!  Well, yeah, noontime might not be a good time to drink alcohol but boy, this martini bar was a huge hit among the guests that day.

The Martini bar was set up where guests can have their personalized Bloody Mary shaken.  I, however, asked for orange juice (I don’t drink alcohol :P).

  • Worcestershire Sauce, Piri Piri sauce, Tabasco red
  • Celery, Olive, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, lemon juice, celery salt

Antonio’s

MCafe’s pasta section is a unique one!  I heard the menu changes every week so there’s always something new to look forward to.  The day that I was there, we had 3 pastas to choose from: spinach gnocchi, salmon ravioli and pumpkin tortellini.  I’ve chosen spinach gnocchi and asked the chef to use tomato-based sauce.  I loved that the chef didn’t put too much on my plate.  I guess she knew that I had so much to eat that day 😛

CRU Steak House

There were 2 sections in Marriott Cafe sunday brunch that I couldn’t forget.  One was the CRU Steak House which is a different place altogether.  It has its own dining area.  I guess if you want to have a more private dining experience then you might opt to sit in the CRU Steak House.

marriott cafe ambiance 2

Steaks, steaks and steaks!  I wouldn’t miss it for the world!  The sunday brunch price of Php 2,000 is super worth it even by just eating the steaks at CRU Steak House.  It is important to note that Marriott Manila only features grass-fed Angus beef from Australia, how awesome!

My biggest surprise was the Foie Gras!  Yes, there’s foie gras!  My gosh!  I had to get one serving of it to come with the steak that I ordered.  It was pure heaven when I ate it.  I knew right there and then that I will be back at Marriott Manila for their sunday brunch.  The far distance won’t be an issue for me anymore considering the food that I’d be enjoying.  Next time, no more pictures, I’ll just enjoy my dining experience 🙂

Dessert

Last, but definitely not the least is the dessert.  They have the usual ice cream and yogurt with condiments to boot.  BUT, the MUST-VISIT at Marriot Cafe is their Chocolate Room!

marriott dessert

Chocolate Room

Every single person in the planet LOVES chocolates!  I may be an exception as I only eat white chocolates but this new offering by Marriott Manila is a clear foodie pleaser!

Imagine a room full of chocolates!  Right at the center of the room is the chocolate fondue with condiments like fruits, marshmallows, etc.

marriott chocolate fondue

On the side is a wide selection of chocolate cakes.  I actually took a moment to admire the beautiful, cute and lovely designs of each cake.  There were raspberry ganache pound cake, milk chocolate mouse with caramel gelee, and Maracaibo chocolate cheesecake, chocolate croustillant, apple chocolate gianduja, white chocolate panna cotta with raspberry, and triple chocolate mouse.

marriott chocolate cakes

I took a big bar of white chocolate.  Do you know that those big bars are 100% Belgian chocolate?  Enjoy unlimited servings of rocky road, almond chocolate, nuts and fruit chocolate.  We were all in chocolate heaven in the chocolate room.  I think I entered the room more than 10 times that sunday.  I couldn’t help it!

marriott chocolate 2

There’s also white chocolate chip brownies, manjari chocolate bar, chocolate pecan tart, macaroon chocolate gianduja, chocolate nougat, chocolate heart bon bon, and chocolate truffles.  So many to choose from!!

marriott chocolate 1

I was completely shocked when I saw the chocolate chef!!  My first reaction was why did Marriott Manila have to put a person and bathe them with chocolates?  When I got to talk to the chocolate chef, she told me that she actually enjoyed it.  She said it was like getting a chocolate spa.  I guess I have to take her word for it!  Boy, she definitely got all our attention.  Everyone wanted to have a photo op with the chocolate chef.  Well, she has to be there to welcome all of us to chocolate heaven.  What an unforgettable experience!

chocolate statue

I might have shared so many sections of the sunday brunch at the Marriott Cafe but in actuality, I missed some of the sections like the Yakitori, sashimi & wicked rolls and the tandoor.  Imagine how big the sunday brunch is!  You’ll never run out of food.  The only issue you’ll have is the limitation that your body can take.  I wish our stomach have unlimited storage too!

I guess Marriott Manila decided to offer it as brunch as with the amount of food that they’re offering.  It’s not possible for us to take all those food in if we already had our breakfast.  The sunday brunch is available at Marriott Cafe every sundays from 11:30AM to 3PM at Php 2,000 per person.

mcafe

But wait, there’s entertainment too as Mr. Clown roams around Marriott Cafe joking around with guests.  I enjoyed my few minutes with him taking pictures.  He was such a lively, hyperactive clown, hahaha!

Queso de Bola Cheesecake from Indulgence by Irene

Queso de Bola Cheesecake from Indulgence by Irene

We usually hear of Queso de Bola during Christmas.  I, however, with so many bloggers in my Facebook timeline, have been hearing about Queso de Bola Cheesecake.  Yes, a cheesecake made of Queso de Bola!

I was curious but didn’t know where to get one.  As I read more and more bloggers (especially the food club) rave about the queso de bola cheesecake, I found out that it’s actually a creation of Irene.  Irene is the wife of Richard, owner of Tales from the Tummy blog.  Apparently, Irene bakes!

I was ecstatic when Richard brought a 4.5-inch solo-size queso de bola cheesecake for me to try out.  Just by the looks of it, I already felt that the cake must taste good.

Queso de Bola Cheesecake by Indulgence by Irene

Since I got the Queso de Bola cheesecake at night time, I put it on the refrigerator for me to bring to work the next day.  You see, I always get hungry especially when I’m at work.  I was truly excited that day as I can finally try out what everyone was raving for!

I invited a colleague of mine to try out Irene’s Queso de Bola Cheesecake with me.  We got our forks out and used it to enjoy the very cheesy cheesecake.

queso de bola cheesecake

I must say after I finished half the mini cheesecake, I was completely satisfied.  The bloggers were right!  The Queso de Bola Cheesecake is really delicious!  No wonder Irene finally made it into a business and she called it Indulgence by Irene.  Her first product?  No other than the fast-rising Queso de Bola Cheesecake.

Irene's Queso de Bola Cheesecake

I appreciate that Indulgence by Irene created such high-quality cake.  Imagine a cheesecake that you can truly say CHEESE!  If you love cheese (especially if you love edam cheese), then this is for you.  There weren’t any fillers at all.  You know that every bite of the cake has pure goodness of edam cheese.  A type of cheese that most people prefer!

After finishing the cheesecake, both me and my colleague were too full! hahaha!  Actually, I had a very light dinner as our merienda was full of honest to goodness queso de bola yumminess!  Just a few bites of Irene’s Queso de Bola can make your stomach satisfied and full.  I’m definitely a happy camper and I’m just glad that my first try of a Queso de Bola Cheesecake was the one created from Indulgence by Irene.

Indulgence by Irene

Irene’s Queso de Bola Cheesecake comes in 2 sizes.  The 4.5-inch one which I reviewed in this post costs about Php200 while a family-size one which is 9-inch costs Php 900.

I wonder what the next product of Indulgence by Irene is… I’m looking forward to it.  For now, I know that Irene is busy baking her Queso de Bola Cheesecakes as orders kept coming in.  Congratulations Irene and Richard! 🙂

KFC Double Down is BACK!

KFC Zinger Double Down

Whatta morning!  Today, I’m working from home.  At around 9:00AM, the doorbell in my house rang.  I opened the door and had the shock of my life! hahaha!

Before I continue on with my story, let me break the surprise already.

KFC Double Down is BACK!  Yes, it’s definitely back and with a big bang!  I know a lot of us do miss it as it was just a limited release last year.  I remember that I had to go back multiple times in different KFC branches because it was always out of stock.  A lot of us were so anxious to try it out.  Since the promo ended, we missed it a bunch too… well, it’s time for us to rejoice again!

KFC Previous Double Down Sandwich

Now back to my story, I saw this energetic man with a fireman costume at the door.  He was so giddy!  He was in a hurry and told me that he was there to deliver to me something good and very very hot!

KFC Cool Delivery Guy

He opened his bag and reached down to get KFC Zinger Double Down!  Oh my gosh!!!  I knew it!  The long wait is finally over!  It’s really the famous double down!

KFC Getting the Hot Double Down

Now packaged as KFC Zinger Double Down.  I immediately took a picture of the product and started eating.  I wanted to see if it has any difference with the one that they released last year.

KFC Zinger Double Down

Another surprise!  The chicken!!! It’s now HOT & CRISPY!!!  I remember the Double Down that was released last year only had the original chicken flavor.  It’s now hot & crispy, yes, hot & crispy!  Sorry, I kept repeating myself.  I was wishing before that they do a hot & crispy version but KFC didn’t release it last year.  So I just had the biggest surprise earlier when I noticed that the chicken is indeed hot & crispy.

Finally, my perfect KFC Double Down and it’s now called — KFC Zinger Double Down.  Most probably because it’s hot & crispy!

KFC Yummy Zinger Double Down

I finally broke the news!  You might want to check it out at KFC stores today but I’m so sorry, it’s not out YET.  You don’t have to wait for long though because KFC will be launching it tomorrow!!!  That’s October 28, 2011.  You can get the exact timing from the KFC Philippines Facebook Page where they have a countdown on when exactly the KFC Zinger Double Down will come out.

KFC Free the Double Down

I’m so happy that I was the first who got to try it out.  According to the team who delivered the wonderful yummy product to me earlier, I was first in their list.  So technically, I was the first one who got the chance to try out KFC Zinger Double Down.  I had to allot time and write this entry as I cannot handle my excitement any longer!
