Recipe: Sauteed Ampalaya

Sauteed Bitter Melon

I will continue to learn vegetable dishes because I want to be healthy.  I’m getting fat in spite of trying to eat less so I’m going to push it more by choosing the right dishes at home.

Ampalaya (bitter gourd in english) is a vegetable that is known to lower glucose levels. This vegetable is a great dish to cook for diabetic people.  I’m not diabetic, but it’s nice to know the health benefit of the ampalaya. Read More

Recipe: Ginisang Pechay

Ginisang Pechay

I have a quest to eat healthy. When I was searching for dishes to cook for the month of April, all I was able to get were vegetable recipes.  The Ginisang Pechay was one of those that I tried out.  I really love the site Kawaling Pinoy because the recipes there are easy to follow.

I’m just glad that after my first try, the dish turned out great!  Yum yum!  Now, for my next try, I will put more pechay (bok choy).  It seemed that I put more ground pork than vegetables.  I already tweaked the recipe to correct the amount of pechay in the dish. Read More

Recipe: Melon Juice

Melon Juice

I love fresh fruit juice! I always order fruit juices whenever I dine at a restaurant.  Fresh fruit juices are expensive though (around Php 80-150 per glass).  So I said to myself, why not make one for myself?  It’s going to be way cheaper and I get to drink as much as I can.  I don’t need to limit myself with just one glass of healthy and delicious freshly made fruit drink.

Cantaloupe (melon) juice is a super refreshing drink.  Gladly, I discovered this recipe. This drink has got to be one of the best fruit juices ever! After I made my first pitcher, the cantaloupe became a staple item whenever I go to the grocery. Yes, I’m addicted. Hopefully, too much melon juice don’t have any side effect, hehe! Read More

Recipe: Sauteed Ampalaya with Pork

Sauteed Ampalaya with Pork

I always see ampalaya at our canteen’s menu. It’s priced cheaper because it’s a vegetable. For a few spoonfuls of the dish, it costs about Php 70 with rice. I do not know why but I tend to eat one more meal after that because it just isn’t enough for me. Luckily, the dish is easy to make and cheap too! I think sautéed ampalaya will be one of my favourite dishes to cook. Right now, I’m still experimenting other dishes. However, I already put it on a mental note that sautéed ampalaya will be one of those I will cook over and over again. Read More

Recipe: Adobong Giniling

Adobong Giniling

This adobong giniling recipe was always something that I wanted to learn to cook. I’ve been looking for one, but it’s been difficult to find something that deserves a post.

I did find this adobong giniling recipe. While not quite what I wanted, it still tasted okay! It does come close to what I wanted. It has quail eggs. Doesn’t that make your meal complete? Read More
