Posted by Rochelle Sy Chua On May 18, 2014

I don’t think I’ll ever stop to learn how to cook. While I haven’t really learned a lot, I would want to concentrate on easy recipes. This pechay in Garlic sauce is one of them. I feel that if there will come a time that I’ll be lazy to try out new recipes, I will just use this recipe to get me through the day.
A lot of people might be cooking this with closed eyes. For me, I’ll probably look at the recipe as I cook this simple pechay recipe for at least 5 more times. But hey, simple recipes actually ended up being one of the yummiest! People eat pechay due to its having low calories. So pechay is a good dish to eat for people who are figure conscious. Apart from that, pechay is good for the bones and for our energy. Read More

I will continue to learn vegetable dishes because I want to be healthy. I’m getting fat in spite of trying to eat less so I’m going to push it more by choosing the right dishes at home.
Ampalaya (bitter gourd in english) is a vegetable that is known to lower glucose levels. This vegetable is a great dish to cook for diabetic people. I’m not diabetic, but it’s nice to know the health benefit of the ampalaya. Read More
StyLIZed by Liz Uy
Posted by Rochelle Sy Chua On April 21, 2014

Let me start by saying that I’m not a biggest fan of Liz Uy. But hey, I don’t know the person. When I heard about her book, I never planned to get myself one. I was just not interested… However, my best friend bought her book and offered to lend it to me. I took the opportunity as I have nothing to lose anyway. I might get a few tips.
I just finished reading the book today. It took me an hour to browse through all the fabulous photos and informative content. I was impressed by this book! Liz Uy definitely published a great book, her first one, which is worthy of a buy!
Here are five reasons why I love styLIZed by Liz Uy:
- It’s organized. I love how she teaches us what she knows about fashion by breaking it down with ten basic items we should have in our closet.
- It’s informative. I learned so many things by reading styLized! Things that got stuck to my mind are having your own personal style, reinventing old clothing, choosing the right fit for you, accessorizing the button down shirt, and leggings dos & don’ts.
- It’s beautiful to look at. I just adore the different outfits displayed in the book! I wish I can reapply some of those styles for myself. I already have some of them in my Pinterest for future reference.
- It’s encouraging. It came to a point that I’m willing to revamp my closet. I planned to revisit my wardrobe this week and probably get myself some new clothes. I will make sure that I apply the lessons from the book so I get the right clothing for myself 🙂
- It’s stylish. It’s quite surprising that some clothing when mixed together actually works. One of the things that I struggle all the time is to choose which bag and shoes to match my outfits. There were a whole bunch of ideas in the book which helped me with my dilemma. I’m really excited to try them and finally be truly stylish!

I now have appreciation of Liz Uy’s work. I love the book, and I think was quite effective that I actually plan to get myself those ten essential items for myself. The Php 395 price tag is super worth it for the valuable fashion lessons you can get from the book.

Recipe: Ginisang Pechay
Posted by Rochelle Sy Chua On April 21, 2014

I have a quest to eat healthy. When I was searching for dishes to cook for the month of April, all I was able to get were vegetable recipes. The Ginisang Pechay was one of those that I tried out. I really love the site Kawaling Pinoy because the recipes there are easy to follow.
I’m just glad that after my first try, the dish turned out great! Yum yum! Now, for my next try, I will put more pechay (bok choy). It seemed that I put more ground pork than vegetables. I already tweaked the recipe to correct the amount of pechay in the dish. Read More
Recipe: Melon Juice
Posted by Rochelle Sy Chua On April 21, 2014

I love fresh fruit juice! I always order fruit juices whenever I dine at a restaurant. Fresh fruit juices are expensive though (around Php 80-150 per glass). So I said to myself, why not make one for myself? It’s going to be way cheaper and I get to drink as much as I can. I don’t need to limit myself with just one glass of healthy and delicious freshly made fruit drink.
Cantaloupe (melon) juice is a super refreshing drink. Gladly, I discovered this recipe. This drink has got to be one of the best fruit juices ever! After I made my first pitcher, the cantaloupe became a staple item whenever I go to the grocery. Yes, I’m addicted. Hopefully, too much melon juice don’t have any side effect, hehe! Read More
