Disturbia Movie Review

disturbia-poster

Was able to watch this late last night via DVD.   There’s a wellness circle in our office wherein we can borrow DVDs for 1 week (free of charge).  I have chosen Disturbia as I have watched the other titles available.

It’s a story about a boy named Kale (played by Shia LaBeouf) who lost his dad while driving home after a fishing trip.  A year after, Kale was reprimanded by his Spanish Teacher for not completing his assignment.  Kale punches his teacher when he mentioned his father.

Kale ended up being subjected to 3 months house arrest w/ a monitor fitted in his ankle that prohibits him from roaming beyond the boundaries of his home.

To fight boredom & to entertain himself, he surveys his neighborhood with his binoculars.  His friend Ronnie and girlfriend Ashley joined him in this hobby of his.

One night, Kale became suspicious of a neighbor named Robert Turner when he saw him return home with a dented mustang that matches the description of the car owned by a serial killer.

The movie just revolved around Kale spying on Turner and Turner trying to kill Kale’s friends & mom and framing Kale for it.

Kale ended up killing Turner out of self-defense.  He was released of house arrest out of “good behavior”.  A funny description of the police for Kale’s help on finding the serial killer hehehe.

Overall, a good movie!  Shia is just an eye candy for ladies hehehe!  But the story and the experience of watching it is nice as well.

My Rating for Disturbia: 3 out of 5 stars.

The Time Traveler’s Wife

time_travelers_wife-758384
Watched this yesterday courtesy of my friend’s Citibank receipts hehehe 😛
I’m such a fan of Rachel McAdams so whatever movie she has, I’ll definitely watch.

Time Traveller’s wife is an adaption of the book by Audrey Niffenegger.

Basically a love story.. Eric Bana’s character has a rare genetic disease where he travels through time, vanishing without specific timing and being gone for a long time.

He met Rachel’s character during his time travels (she was still a child then). She has been dreaming to be married to him and eventually met Eric’s character when she got older.

The movie is a bit dragging but was pretty exciting in the end.  I shed a few tears especially at the ending when Eric’s character died.  Apparently, when he was still alive and time travelling, he was visiting Rachel & their daughter in the future… *sniff sniff*

I never read the book so I can’t compare. This movie reminds me of “the Notebook” & “a Walk to Remember”. Another story that shows that there is indeed true love..

My Rating for The Time Traveler’s Wife: 4 out of 5 stars.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

gi-joe-rise-of-cobra
Rhona & I haven’t seen each other for months (almost a year I think), yesterday I asked her if she wanted to watch G.I. Joe. So we went to Glorietta 4 to catch the 7:50pm showing.
We grabbed Tater Chips before we entered the movie house (my favorite yumyum!). Anyway, the movie is sooo good! I love it a lot! This movie is an adaptation of the comic books, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.
The movie started with the U.S. Army delivering the warheads (nanotechnology-based weapon capable of destroying an entire city) but was attacked by Sienna Miller’s character. I wasn’t able to recognize Sienna Miller till I tried researching about the movie. She just looked so stunning in the movie. Rachel Nichols (part of G.I. Joe Team) was also soooo beautiful there.
The movie revolved around G.I. Joe’s saving the cities from being destroyed by the Cobras. Truly action-packed, I especially love the scenes between snake eyes & storm shadow.
Here’s a list of the 2 groups:
G.I. Joe
  • General Hawk – Dennis Quiad
  • Duke – Channing Tatum
  • Snake Eyes – Ray Park
  • Ripcord – Marlon Wayans
  • Scarlett – Rachel Nichols
  • Heavy Duty – Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
  • Breaker – Said Taghmaoui
Cobra
  • Destro – Christopher Eccleston
  • Cobra Commander – Joseph Gordon-Levitt
  • The Baroness – Sienna Miller
  • Storm Shadow – Lee Byung-hun
So whose side are you? I’m definitely for the G.I. Joes! 🙂

My Rating for G.I Joe – The Rise of Cobra: 4 out of 5 stars.

It’s Alive Movie Review

53d57d38-9c7d-4ba2-a977-5b7d880ad63d

If you’re filipino, do you remember the movie “Tiyanak”? It’s a 1988 movie starring Janice De Belen w/ the famous line “Anak ni Janice” hehehe 😛

It’s Alive is the American version of “Tiyanak”. It is a story about a couple’s baby that turns out to be a monster who kills when frightened. This is a horror movie in the true sense.

It’s a movie full of blood.  When the mother delivered the baby, the baby killed all the hospital staffs, nurses & doctor in the room!  The room was full of blood and it was sooooo gross.  The series of events after that were all killing sprees.  Baby killing psychiatrist, police, his mother’s friends..

The mother was protecting the child at first until the child injured his own dad.  The mother took the child inside and burned the house down with both of them still inside.   That was how the movie ended. That’s just it… 😛

It’s just a normal scary movie for me, might be best to just watch it on video… but that’s just me.

My Rating for It’s Alive: 1.5 out of 5 stars.

Iron Man Movie Review

Iron-Man-Part-1
I borrowed the DVD of Iron Man , it was sad that I wasn’t able to catch this on the big screen. After watching it today, I realized that I really missed on it, big time, wishing i did catch it before huhuhuhuhuhu :'(
Robert Downey Jr. stars as Iron Man, a BIG BIG welcome back movie for him! He’s super hot in the movie and looked so macho and strong hehehhe 😛 The role fits him very well. I also loved Terence Howard’s character & Jeff Bridges was soooo good as a villain (I didn’t actually recognize him until the end credits).
Iron Man is Tony Stark, CEO at Stark Industries, a company that builds & supplies weapons. When Tony flies to Afghanistan to present the new weapon Stark Industries made, he was kidnapped by the group, Ten Rings. The group wanted Tony to build a missile for them.
Instead of building the missile, he used 3 months of his captivity building a powered exoskeleton and became a technologically advanced superhero. Eventually, Tony found out that it was Obadiah (Jeff’s character) who ordered for Ten Rings to click Tony.
The story revolved there.. with Obadiah building his own suit as well based on Tony’s design and 2 men in iron suits fighting towards the end.. guess who won? 🙂
I can’t wait for the sequel of Iron Man. Heard it’s going to be shown on May 2010 with Robert Downey Jr. & Gwyneth Paltrow reprising their characters.

My Rating for Iron Man: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
