P&G Christmas Basket 2009

December 4 was a great day to be a P&G employee!  Not just because it was a friday & we can wear casual clothes like jeans & rubber shoes.  It was also the day we received our christmas bonus and the ever-famous christmas basket! 😀

It is just so nice to work for a company that reward their employees 🙂  I can divide the Christmas Basket into 3 sections: Grocery Items, P&G products & ham!

Where do I begin?  I was really ssssssooooo excited yesterday that I took a lot of pictures!
Let me show them to you:

  • Ham – we received 2 different brands – CDO & Purefoods.

  • P&G Products – consist of assorted P&G products which I personally, only use.  I wouldn’t work for the company if I didn’t believe in their products right?

  • Groceries – this one is my ultimate favorite!  I just love groceries especially the ones given for free hehehe 😛

A lot of people have been asking me how they could apply in P&G.  We have created a facebook page just for recruitment.  You can check the page out for P&G recruitment activities.  We’re currently hiring so go here & check the list of events.

Before I forget, there is a P&G recruitment event on January 23.  This is open to all experienced IT professionals.  Interested individuals can apply online to our job posting here.

Anyway, as I was saying regarding christmas basket, you can find the rest of the pictures in my flickr album here.

Giving Help to Sitio Maislap

My time at Sitio Maislap is one of the most heartwarming experiences.  Seeing my friend and pastors giving time to help out the people in need and knowing friends & former colleagues shelling out money to give out to the poor is just touching.

Sitio Maislap, Baranggay San Isidro is located at Montalban Rizal.  Shailoh Church, Rock Church together with the help of my former colleague Agnes organized this charity event yesterday.  We were able to reach out to 50 families with over 70 children.

The day started with 4 very young kids sharing the word of God with 80 other kids.  Mario, Paula, Verna and Charisse were there spending their time teaching the kids about how to be good little angels. They base their teachings on a book called, “Magagandang Katangian – Aking Tutularan”.

I was just so impressed and touched by them even though they are still in school themselves.  They already know how to give back to the community.  I’m sure their parents are proud of them.

We arrived at around lunchtime.  So we started to provide lunch to the families & kids.  It’s sad that there are so many poor families in our country.  Seeing them so happy with the food we prepared is just humbling.  Most of them had already lost their homes due to the Typhoon Ondoy flood.  Most of them only earn Php100 a day from garbage collection.

Our next activity was sharing of God’s word.  The pastors divided the adults into groups and each of them shared the word of God like what Christians usually do during a bible study group meeting.

While the grown-ups were doing their bible study, I spent my time talking with the cute kids!  They love taking pictures hahahah!  They kept asking me if I could take picture of them & there were just too enthusiastic when I was already holding my camera to take pictures of them.  Here is a picture of me with the adorable kids of Sitio Maislap, Barangay San Isidro:

Lastly, we gave out the relief goods to the families there.  The pastor concluded the event by prayer.  This is really such a heartwarming event, I’m just touched by how good-hearted some people are & in spite of saddening condition of our government.  It gives me hope that there are Filipinos out there doing these things to help out fellow filipinos.

Here is the group of volunteers who took time out and made this event a success:

Another Car-Related Matter

Here I am, just a little over a month.  Car trouble, again!  Poor apple (my car’s name hehe!). :'(

My car’s engine stopped working last friday. I ended up leaving my car near our office, while I hitched a ride with a colleague on the way home.

I consulted with several people, They had various suspicions on why apple failed me:

  • water entered fuel pump thus making it unclean.
  • overheat
  • spark plugs

All false alarms!  We finally saw that the problem was w/ the radiator!  It was cracked!!!

That’s the reason why water kept leaking out & apple kept overheating.  Boom!  Apple broken 🙁  *sniff sniff*

Bought a new radiator for apple today (installation at Php 350).  I learned that there are 3 kinds of radiator we can buy:

  • metal radiator (Php 7,500)
  • plastic radiator (Php 3,200)
  • surplus radiator (Php 2,500)

I got the plastic radiator as the metal radiator is wayyyyyyyy over my budget.  Actually I never really had a budget for this, another unplanned expenses for me 🙁

Hopefully, apple will not fail for me again this year.

Before I end my post, I would like to thank the ff. people.:

  • Echo for checking on my car last friday morning and shared several theories about car parts.  Found me a parking space as well that day.
  • Benj for helping me leave my car at the Caltex station & giving me a ride home last friday.
  • Jeff for accompanying me almost the whole saturday.  I really appreciate the time you spent helping me fix apple.
  • Alex, though currently in the province, helped me find good deals on radiator.  If not for him, I could have spent much more money.
  • my friends, colleagues, online friends who checked on me through text, YM, FB, giving me advice on what to do, offering help, etc.

Allow me to send my greatest gratitude and appreciation for all the help & concern you’ve given me.  I’ll never forget this and you can surely count on me when you need help 🙂  Thanks friends!

The Sweet Joy of Family

As we join the cause to make October 20, National Thank You Day, a national holiday, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2 most important people in my life.

Thank You

I would like to thank my mom & my aunt for taking care of me, for putting up with me, for sacrificing for me and most of all, for loving me unconditionally.

My mom raised me all by herself while my aunt treated me like her own.  I learned a lot from them about life.  I learned to be strong, independent & learned to appreciate the love & care people give to me.  I won’t be surviving now if not for them.

My mom’s & aunt’s love and their lessons on life are most precious to me. These are the kind of lessons that can never be learned from school, but only through family. This is something precious that we all get from the most important people in our lives.

We rarely see each other. We live in three different countries. I may not be blessed with a large family, but having two of the most wonderful people in the world as family is enough for me.

Tears fall as I write this post…

My mom and my aunt is family.  They are my life.  No words could ever express the depth of my love for both of them.

I love them both…
