Icebergs

It was such a pleasant surprise when I saw the newly opened Icebergs on Banawe street, Quezon City.  Although Banawe street already has a lot of restaurants, I have always felt that it still needed a little bit more of variety.  And with Icebergs, we now have a place to go to for ice cream, desserts, and basically if we want something cold and sweet :p  Especially with the Philippines having hot weather, sometimes we just want something sweet & cold to get us refreshed and satisfy our sweet tooth.

Now, mom has been craving for halo halo ever since she arrived here in Manila.  So when we accidentally passed by Icebergs, we stopped and decided to have our early dinner there.  Coincidentally, a few weeks before that day, I had desserts at Icebergs, Harbour Square right after we watched CATS.  Another rare occurrence was that in both instances, I was wearing black! hahaha!

Roch in Icebergs

We ordered the ff. (I took the liberty to also include the desserts we had weeks ago):

  • Icebergs Famous Sisig (Php 178)

icebergs sisig

In all honesty, when I do think of Icebergs, their meals and dishes usually isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.  And so, I really wasn’t aware that sisig was a famous dish at Icebergs!  Then we saw a big big picture on the menu and it turns out that sisig is indeed a specialty.  My mom ordered sisig so that she could try and judge for herself as to how Icebergs’ sisig differs from other places.  I also took a bite so that I knew how it tasted and in order for me to provide a review from my own perspective.

I can tell you that it was good, however, there’s really not much difference from their version to other restaurants though.  Although, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t good either, because what I look for in sisig is exactly what they provided.  The seasoning of the dish, which is always something I judge any dish on, the seasoning was just right.  The bits of meat, and the crunchiness of the chicharon too, really gave this dish a lot of texture and contrast which is important.  Combining the egg with the entire meal really completed this dish well.

  • Southern Style Fried Chicken (Php 150)

icebergs chicken

I was extremely disappointed with my order of Fried Chicken.  It was overcooked and ended up being too hard to eat.  I ended up not eating the chicken and just ate the country fries included in the order.  Their country fries is truly one of the best, you can order ala carte too, price is at Php 128.  But I’m glad that we at least had a chance to try their chicken.  Now I know for sure that when it comes to chicken I’m probably still going to stick with KFC or Jollibee.

  • Halo Halo Special (Php 88)

icebergs halo halo

Icebergs’ Halo halo really satisfied my mom’s craving.  What I like about their halo halo is that the amount of ingredients they have in each order is just perfect.  And the amount of milk is also just right.  There’s nothing more disappointing when it comes to halo halo than too much ice, but not enough milk.  With Iceberg, the proportion of ingredients makes every spoonful rich, creamy, sweet, and delicious!  And do you see that big chunk of ube on top?  Yummy!

  • Fresh Mango Iced Tea (Php 58)

icebergs mango iced tea

I love this new drink from Icebergs!  It’s basically brewed tea with real chunks of Mango!  I love how they are catering to the Filipino taste, and an iced tea with mango chunks is truly unique and delicious!  I always like to order iced tea, but I’m glad that I was able to try this variation of the drink.  I really suggest that you try it too.  It’s a perfect recipe, which basically means it’s a yummy drink! :p  The balance in flavors gives it that right amount of mango taste without losing the iced tea flavor.  Sometimes flavored iced tea becomes too much about the flavor and suddenly we forget that its iced tea.  With Iceberg they were able to strike that balance in flavor with their fresh mango iced tea.

  • Mocha Shake (Php 138)

icebergs chocolate shake

I wasn’t really sure about this mocha shake.  I think the purposely made the shake rich, but when I think of a shake, my mind automatically thinks of a good mix of milk and whatever flavor the shake is supposed to be.  I think the shake was good, but it could have toned down on the richness and maybe added a bit more milk and maybe mixed it a bit more.  The cream was okay too, but I think however beautiful this shake may look, it could still use a little bit more refinement in its recipe or execution, or both.  The flavor was good, don’t get me wrong, but it’s sort of like having too much seasoning in a dish or meal, in this shake there was just too much.

  • Mais con Hielo (Php 88)

icebergs mais con hielo

Corn bits, corn flakes, milk, shaved ice and ice cream comprises mais con hielo.  A very old Filipino favorite and will continue to be mine.  Icebergs makes the traditional, simple, yet delicious mais con hielo.  Again, the proportion and the amount of milk they put in the dessert is really something I wish more places would practice.  It’s amazing just how simple this dessert can be, and yet Icebergs I know has done its homework when it comes to the proportions of its ingredients.  What I like about mais con hielo in general is that it’s not too sweet, but satisfies your craving for something sweet just enough.  And the taste of corn with ice cream and milk, mixed with some shaved ice is really something that can’t go wrong when you just need to cool off and relax.

  • Strawberry Parfait (Php 168)

icebergs strawberry ice cream

I know people go to Baguio for strawberries.  If you don’t have the resources to go there, you might as well order Strawberry Parfait in Icebergs!  When my friend gave it a try, she told me that this tastes just like strawberry jam only that it was frozen.  Their parfait consists of ice cream, some fresh strawberries, and strawberry syrup, and the whole thing topped with whipped cream.  I do recommend this too if ever you stop by Icebergs.  The only thing that I was wondering about this dessert is that I have always thought of parfaits to be a bit more light and fluffy, creamy, and even light in terms of flavors.  But other than that, I definitely would still recommend this dessert, parfait or not.

I would say though Icebergs has specialty meals, they are still a dessert place.  One of the popular ones in Manila actually.  They are expanding and it seems like they’re here to stay.  For hot days, when you need to satisfy your craving for something sweet, craving for ice cream or halo halo, or even some shakes, I suggest a stop at Icebergs.  You won’t regret it, and your sweet tooth will thank you for it! :p

Sky Dragon Seafood Restaurant

We had dinner & mooncake dice game at Sky Dragon Seafood Restaurant last week.  Before I entered the restaurant, I was warned by my mom’s friends that the place isn’t that nice & the food isn’t good as well.  I kept that in mind but I still wanted to see for myself before I came to any conclusion.

When I entered, the ambiance wasn’t really that great, very simple, but it just shows that this place has a family hangout theme to it.  Mainly for big families with a budget while still wanting to have a good time.  The ground floor is mainly for dining while the second floor has private rooms.  Each room has a karaoke system inside where guests can sing their heart out.

sky dragon ambiance

While we waited for our orders, my mom & her friends sang their favorite songs. I didn’t like the sounds & obviously, the karaoke was not of high quality but hey, it was for free!  It’s added service, so there really is no room for complaints.

My mom’s friend ordered all the food for us.  I felt a bit embarassed as everyone waited for me to take pictures of the food before they started eating hehehe!  Anyhow, it only took me like 10 seconds to take each picture, so I think they didn’t mind (well, I assumed hahaha!).

Here are the dishes that we tried at Sky Dragon:

  • Spinach Seafood Soup (Php 468)

sky dragon soup

Contrary to popular belief, I actually love everything vegetable!  This Spinach soup did really taste yummy and I enjoyed it very much.  I was hoping that I could get a 2nd serving but considering we were like more than 10 in the group, the big bowl that we ordered was just enough.  I love the fact that it was almost a mix of egg drop soup, with the touch of spinach incorporated into the soup.  It was light, and I honestly could have eaten so much of this soup.  It wasn’t seasoned so much, which made the taste of the spinach really stand out just perfectly, but the bitterness of spinach which sometimes gives a lot of spinach dishes a downgrade in my opinion, the bitterness was not there.  They really must have experimented with this dish just to make it perfect.  What an innovative soup creation!

  • Broccoli with Scallop (Php 600)

sky dragon broccoli

I’m not really sure as to how they made this dish.  It seems pretty simple enough, with the broccoli cooked just right and not overcooked.  The thick broth (sauce) was probably your basic sauce consisting of garlic, onion, soy sauce, salt and pepper, but the added scallops really made this dish stand out too.  I just kept wondering if the scallops really was there, I wasn’t sure.  Because the thin strips almost looked a bit like misua noodles.  I keep thinking that maybe they just had the scallops shredded to give the sauce more of the scallop flavor.  And if this is the case, then this dish is yet another great innovative way to serve scallops along with the brocolli.

  • Fried Chicken Taoso (Php 468)

chicken sky dragon

This dish was a favorite of my mom’s.  A very unique dish indeed.  Taoso is usually put on steamed fish, but didn’t realize that it actually works with fried chicken too!  I enjoyed this dish mainly because of the taoso.  If you don’t know what taoso is, it’s basically bits of crispy tofu.  It’s a great way to really add an extra layer of flavor and crispiness to an ordinary roasted chicken.  Don’t get me wrong, I think they also did a great job in roasting the chicken since it was definitely moist and wonderfully seasoned.  The taoso however, was definitely the ingredient that made this dish truly special.  And anyone who knows me, knows that I love tofu.  And this is almost my dream combination in terms of food ingredients since I also love chicken skin.  Now, who can go wrong with this great combination of crispy taoso and delicious roasted chicken!

  • King Fish Soy Sauce (Php 580)

sky dragon steamed fish

We got 2 of these for the price of Php 580.  Nothing special but decent.  I do like the fact that it had almost a steamed character to it, but with really more flavor because of the delicious soy sauce incorporated into the dish.  A very light dish that won’t leave your stomach too heavy.  But again, I don’t think this is really one of their all star dishes to try out.

  • Kingdao Spareribs (Php 648)

spareribs sky dragon

Kingdao spareribs is actually a staple in many Chinese restaurants.  Although it’s not as popular as your sweet and sour dishes, or even the noodle dishes, etc., it still is one of those dishes that you should try once in a while.  The sauce is what makes it so good.  It is a bit sweet, because in some recipes they will use honey, but in this case, I think they just used sugar.  It has a tomato based type of sauce too, almost like a ketchup flavor, and of course there’s a little soy sauce included as well.  I’m not sure the exact recipe used in this dish, but I can tell you that the taste is really delicious.

Kingdao, I think really does blend well to the Filipino tastebud since it’s almost like the sauce used in a lot of Filipino barbecues hahaha :p  That’s why I think I really like it too!  The only difference is that this dish really has that tomato base, whereas in The Filipino version of this sauce, banana ketchup would probably be used instead.  The only thing that kinda stopped me from eating more was that there was just too many bones!  I guess I was lazy to cut each piece & get the bones out.  It was delish though, I loved how they cooked it.  Perfectly seasoned.

  • Kuachay Rice Kiampong (Php 492)

sky dragon fried rice

Oh how I love rice like this.  Only Chinese restaurant cook rice this way & I’m just glad the rice served to us was kiampong!  Successful dish in our table, we were able to finish it all.

  • Assorted Cold Cuts (Php 328)

sky dragon asado

Their asado & lechon kawali combination was hideous!  I hated it sooo much, I got one of each, took a bite then just left them in my plate.  The asado was too dry, too hard while the lechon kawali was just made of fat meat, period.  I’ve tried lechon kawali in so many places that I know exactly what it should be.  The crispiness of lechon kawali should almost be like chicharon, that’s why its always been a favorite of mine, but sadly this was not the case here.

  • Misua Guisado

sky dragon noodles

I’ve always loved fried misua and glad that while we celebrate Moon festival, we have this as part of our meal.  I loved the noodles and I actually took a 2nd serving.  Then I heard 2-3 of my mom’s friends saying that they actually tasted something foul.  Apparently, one of the ingredients was already spoiled.  Good thing, both my mom and I just ate the noodles so we didnt experience it.  If there was indeed some spoiled ingredients, then that’s definitely a disappointment especially for a restaurant.  A dish is only as good as its ingredients, and if one ingredient is spoiled, it really ruins the entire dish, no matter how good the recipe is and how good the dish SHOULD be.

  • Mixed Fruits

mixed fruits sky dragon

This was given to us for free because we kept complaining about the misua & asado dishes.  Ironically, we also didn’t like this so it was left in the desk with only 1-2 pieces eaten.  Poor fruits, I wish we had some appetite to eat it but it didn’t look fresh 🙁

There were a lot of times that I felt some pity for the restaurant because the group was complaining the whole time about the dishes.  While it may be true, the servers & manager just accepted all criticisms, tried to compromise by giving us free dishes.  We even got 20% discount!  Now, that’s something commendable, the customers are really their boss.  And because of their really gracious service, I still think that the entire meal was still worth it considering that I got to try out some great new and delicious dishes.

Kohikan at the Diamond

I used to go to Kohikan a lot when it still had a branch in Promenade, Greenhills.  It’s still a mystery to me why it closed down considering it was very successful, there was no hint at all that one day it’d close down.

Luckily, my mom knew that they also have a branch that is located at the lobby of Diamond Hotel.  She suggested that we go to Kohikan for dinner.  That day, I was driving from Tagaytay as we went to Sonya’s Garden for lunch.  It was a looong drive and I was too tired, Diamond Hotel was on the way home.

Kohikan is known to have coffee that is charcoal-roasted.  It’s a given that we would order coffee, why would you not order the specialty of a restaurant right?

charcoal roasted coffee kohikan

Unfortunately, most of the menu items from their promenade branch weren’t available.  I wonder why.  Maybe, since hotel guests usually just want coffee or dessert, it probably doesn’t make sense for them to offer a lot of items.

Anyhow, here’s what we had:

  • Winner (Php 175)

winner kohikan

This is Sumibi Coffee w/ whipped cream.  It’s pretty funny that they call it winner, but maybe it’s because Sumibi coffee is the popular coffee at Kohikan.  By the way, the whipped cream is so rich, you might want to mix it first with the coffee before drinking.  You would enjoy it better that way 🙂

  • Iced Sumibi (Php 180)

iced sumibi

Iced Sumibi as the name implies is the iced version of the Sumibi coffee.  I love its presentation plus the cute lil container for the cream & syrup.  Tasted good too!  Just as we expected from a Japanese coffee.

  • Matcha (Php 260)

matcha kohikan

Green Tea Shake topped with a whipped cream.  My mom’s friends always orders this, I keep forgetting to try it.  I can’t seem to break my habit of always ordering the Iced Sumibi from Kohikan hahaha!  Maybe next time 😛

  • Coffee Jelly (Php 250)

coffee jelly kohika

Doesn’t look like Coffee Jelly at all, does it?  That’s because it’s a shake!  They blended all the ingredients & topped it w/ vanilla ice cream.  My mom doesn’t like vanilla ice cream so she requested for it to be separated from the drink.  It was a delicious drink according to my mom, when I get the chance to go back to Kohikan, I’ll try this first then the Matcha..

  • Sauteed Shrimps al Ajillo (Php 450)

prawn rice at kohikan

I was hungry but my 2 companions weren’t.  I ended up being the only one who ordered a full meal.  I tried the  shrimps w/ garlic rice.  Shrimp has always been my favorite food item, can’t get enough of it.  This version was spicy but definitely tasty!  This turned out to be a really wonderful dish because of balance of flavors that was incorporated into the tomato-based sauce.  The shrimp wasn’t overcooked at all, and most of all, the garlic rice really was a great companion to the dish itself.

  • Ensaymada

ensaymada kohikan

I noticed at the counter a lot ensaymada on display.  Looking around the place, I also noticed that everyone ordered it.  Christina then ordered it just to give it a try.  I took a bite and I loved it!  Ensaymada is basically a bread coated with butter, sugar and cheese but the thing that differentiated it from other ensaymadas is that there’s ube inside Kohikan’s version, yum!  It was served hot too as they microwave it first before putting it on our table.

The price of their menu items are a bit too steep IMHO.   I felt it was really too much considering the taste and ambiance of the coffee place.  A factor could be because it’s inside Diamond hotel, I was hoping they could lower the price a bit or else, I don’t think I would want to go back often.

Anyhow, I still enjoyed our dinner since I’m with my mom & my best friend 🙂  I was also too tired from driving so I was able to relax a bit.

roch with mom and best friend

Service was okay, nothing special, there was an instance where my mom had to ask for water 3 times from 2 different servers before it was served to us.  It wasn’t consistent coz there was a server who was very accommodating.  Oh well, let’s see if there’s a chance for me to go back.  And probably the only reason is definitely because of the drinks, really can’t go wrong if you need a place to just sit and relax and enjoy the company that you’re with 🙂

Gerry’s Grill

Gerry’s Grill is a household name in the Philippines.  I’m just amazed as to how they continue to be better & better inspite of the success of the restaurant.  Would you believe at around 9PM in the evening, Gerry’s Grill at Tomas Morato was still jampacked?  Considering how big the branch is, it was just impressive to see with my own eyes!

gerrys grill crowd

Last night, Gerry’s Grill invited several media people to sample their new menu dishes.  I was one of them and I also brought my mom with me (I know she loves Gerry’s Grill so I’m sure she’d enjoy the meal).

me and mom at gerrys grill

We were able to try out numerous dishes, and honestly, it was too much hahaha!  My mom was actually constantly reminding me to stop taking in so much, she wanted me to just have one bite of each dish.  I’m a bit conscious now since I’m already overweight so it’s best that I start tracking my diet.  Who could resist Gerry’s Grill food?  I would say noone especially if you’re fond of Filipino food.

Here are Gerry’s Grill new yummy dishes:

  • Fish & Chips (Php 145)

fish shrimps and chips gerrys grill

I also included in this photograph the shrimps & chips (Php 295).  Both fish & shrimps were done the same way, battered and then deep fried, not good for the cholesterol count, but definitely still very delicious.  This is somewhat an American menu item that they have incorporated into their menu to give more variety for those who are craving this classic american seafood item.  Gerry’s Grill is really trying to stretch it by having a bit of everything in their menu.

  • Several Pla Pla Dishes

pla pla dishes gerrys grill

Most of their new offerings include a major ingredient which is the fish called Pla Pla.  I had to put them in one image for you to see how the restaurant created 4 completely different dishes with it.  The dishes are Sinigang na Pla pla sa Miso (Php 185), Ginataang Pla pla (Php 225), Pinaputok na Pla pla Fillet (Php 245) & Crispy Pla pla w/ Ensaladang Talong (Php 190).  Innovative, isn’t it?  They tasted good too!

  • Sizzling Tilapia Ala Pobre (Php 245)

sizzling tilapia ala pobre gerrys grill

Most of their new dishes are fish hahaha!  I don’t know if it was God’s will that they didn’t serve much meat since I need to lose weight, but I welcome it!  Gerry’s Grill is famous for their sizzling plates so I’m glad they made this version for the tilapia.  Tilapia is one of those types of fish that is very versatile and lends well to the sizzling plate menu.  Simple way of cooking fish, minced garlic, onion, some veggies, and you really have an appetizing dish.  It honestly is the added taste of the garlic and onions that make this dish stand out.  Not to mention that the fish is nice and moist and seared perfectly on the outside.  Yummy!

  • Sizzling Binagoongan Baboy

binagoongan baboy gerrys grill

The binagoongan baboy was a special request of my mom.  She was pointing the picture to me & said she wanted to try it hahaha!  So I asked if we could try it and I was glad they served it to us.  My mom loved it!  She’s actually planning to dine at Gerry’s Grill tonight w/ her friends.  I, however, would have wished they didn’t put the eggplant in there.  It still tasted good, nevertheless.  There are times when you just need a dish to be simple, and I think this dish would be perfect without the eggplant.

Of course, we also had our old-time favorite Gerry’s Grill items:

  • Sizzling Sisig (Php 175)

gerrys grill sisig

All time-favorite, the night just isn’t complete without Gerry’s Grill’s famous sisig!  Yum!  There’s just something that is classic with Gerry’s Grill sisig.  It incorporates all the great flavor of what sisig should have, including the bits of onion.  The crispiness of the pork and the seasoning of the whole dish has always been just right.  Sometimes, we get sisig that just doesn’t have the right seasoning, or has become too soggy, but the contrast in texture, which is important, makes this dish always stand out!

  • Tinomok (Php 165)
  • laing gerrys grill

Laing with a twist!  This was actually my favorite among the dishes we tried out.  It’s a combination of meat and vegetable.  If any of you have ever had stuffed cabbage, then this is definitely the Filipino version of it.  I think this dish is most closely associated with the Bicol region, but I just love how they conceptualized this dish.  The meat was perfectly seasoned and just made out well with the laing and the sauce.  A Genius creation indeed.

    • Sizzling Garlic Mushroom Chicken (Php 225)

    garlic chicken gerrys grill

When my mom tasted this, she whispered to me.  This one is really good.  I tasted it and I definitely agree.  Wow!  The brown gravy that was made with the mushrooms, and the roasted chicken was really out of this world.  but the toasted and perfectly fried minced garlic was just something that put this dish in another league.  I really love how the roasted chicken was just seasoned well to match the seasoning of the gravy.  Veggies became just decoration for presentation purpose though, but still, this is one dish I would definitely recommend.

    • Adobo Puso Rice (Php 155)

    gerrys grill fried rice

I love the presentation of their adobo rice.  Generous serving too plus you can really taste the different spices in the fried rice.  Super worth your money.  Again, there’s just something that I love about cooking food in banana leaves.  The aroma and the taste that gets infused into each dish really takes a dish from good to great.  Adobo rice in general is already jampacked with flavor, but the added taste of that banana leaf is something I really would suggest you try.

We ended the night with delicious desserts from the restaurant, wahhh!!  Talk about eating too much good food, it felt like a buffet already! 😛

    • Buko Pandan (Php 75)

    buko pandan gerrys grill

For those who love buko pandan, I think their version gives you the classic dessert and then some.  With an added taste of the different gelatins, and the generous amount of that cream, it’s a buko pandan lover’s dream come true.

    • Halo Halo (Php 95)

    halo halo gerrys grill

Have you ever gone to those places who seem to give you more ice than ingredients in their Halo halo?  Well, at Gerry’s grill, you won’t have that problem since just like their dishes, they truly give you your money’s worth.  And can you see that generous serving of ice cream?!!  My golly, I just loved it!  One of the best halo halo’s i’ve ever had!

Luckily, we were able to talk with head chef Fred Redoblado.  Chef Fred started Year 2000 with Gerry’s Grill and he is the brain of the new dishes that the restaurant is offering.  He said that they continue to improve their menu items and have been doing so every 6 months.  As I said at the start of this post, it’s really admirable that Gerry’s Grill continues to improve and improve even if they are already successful.  This is one great trait of a good company.  I have great respect for Gerry’s Grill after hearing their story and their passion to make it a better restaurant each time.

    Chef Fred Gerrys Grill

Gerry’s Grill also came up with their own membership card.  It’s called Circle of Friends Loyalty Card.  We can purchase it for only Php 100 with no minimum purchase required.  The card is valid for one year and can be renewed for the same amount, Php 100.

Now, that was a very long post.  Pardon me, there was just too much to share, it was such a great experience that I don’t wanna miss out any details.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gerry’s Grill for the great food, hospitality & most of all, the experience.

There’s Meat to Fish & Co

If there’s one thing that I have gained from being so addicted with Facebook, is that sometimes you can stumble on some great information!  For example, while I was browsing through a friends’ profiles on FB last week, I came across Fish & Co.’s ad on their official FB page.  The ad was just to let everyone know that yes, they actually serve meat in the famous seafood restaurant and they were giving away free dinners!  I joined the contest and luckily, I was chosen and invited to dine in the restaurant last Wednesday.

I asked my colleague Maus if she would like to accompany me to Fish & Co., try out their meat dishes as well as also give a chance to have a little bonding time too! 😀  So we went & I’m just glad we did.  It was great to try out their new offerings, but I still like their fish in a pan dish more.  However, it’s great that they are expanding their menu to serve more customer needs.

    fish and co

We were asked to choose between 3 different meat dishes:

    • Grilled Lamb Chop (Php 995)
    • Breaded Chicken Piggyback (Php 385)
    • Shrimp & Chicken Breast Al Pesto (Php 395)

With the picture of the Lamb Chops in front of us, we just couldn’t resist!  And even though we both had choices of the three dishes, we both ended up getting the lamb chops!  It may have been a better idea to get different dishes so that we could try out more than one dish, but we really just wanted our own share of the lamb chops :p  And plus, we were hungry anyway so there were no regrets!  Hey, the food was yummy plus it was given for free!  There was no room for complaints! 😛

Roch Maus Eating fish and co lamb chops

I find it funny that the lamb chops was served with seafood rice, hehe!  They are staying true to their theme, Fish & Co. is still a seafood restaurant.  I personally think that serving it with plain or garlic rice would be better for the juicy lamb chops w/ mango salsa.

I noticed Maus was putting some salt & pepper to her lamb chops, I asked her why and she said the lamb chops was lacking it.  I may be the one who blogs a lot about food but my friend Maus is a great, great food critic!  With just one taste, she can usually tell in an instant how the dish was done & what ingredients were put in the dish.  Truly amazing!  Somehow, I’m glad that I’m not as sensitive when it comes to taste, because I honestly feel that the lamb chops that Fish & Co. served was already good.  I can understand though, because my thinking is that you never want to over season a dish since customer taste varies in restaurants.  And lamb chops, like the ones we were served, I think was well done.  Simple yet executed well.  the salsa really cut through the heaviness of the meat, and sometimes that’s just what you need with lamb chops or even pork chops, etc.

If you’re going to head on to Fish & Co. and order their Grilled Lamb Chops, I would suggest you share it.  It’s good for two persons, unless you really eat a lot then you can eat solo 😛

    lamb chops fish and co

We thought that the treat ends there but they gave us Creme Brulee (Php 175) for dessert too! 🙂  I saw them give Hot Fudge Chocolate Cake (Php 190) to other guests, I was just glad it was Creme Brulee for us.  I’m not a fan of chocolates.  Fish & Co.’s Creme Brulee is basically egg custard with a little extra vanilla flavor.  Creme brulee is one of those desserts that can sometimes have the tendency to be a little bit sweet since there is granulated sugar that is on top of the dessert itself.  What I liked about this creme brulee is that it was just perfectly sweet.  I enjoyed the dessert a lot!  We had a complete meal!  Whew!  Now there goes my diet..

    creme brulee fish and co

One thing that really stood out during our visit was their excellent customer service!  Maus & I were so impressed by just how proactive their servers were.  We did wait for awhile for our dish.  We didn’t follow up but they kept updating us as to how long our meal would be arriving & they even kept apologizing for the delay.  I really hope other restaurants can learn and be like them, it just makes our experience much much better if we are given good customer service.

So there you go, our super full meal from Fish & Co (yes, they now serve meat!).
