Miss You Like Crazy Movie Review

Miss You Like Crazy Movie

A new Star Cinema movie, “Babe, I Love You”, starring Anne Curtis & Sam Milby will be showing today, and it is their first ever movie together.   So, I think I should really blog about the Star Cinema movie shown before this upcoming one, and that movie was “Miss You Like Crazy” starring John Lloyd Cruz & Bea Alonzo.  It was supposed to be their love team comeback movie.

I was very excited to watch “Miss You Like Crazy” because the Star Cinema movie that preceded it, “Paano na Kaya“, was a very good movie.  We even bought the original DVD of that Kim Chiu & Gerald Anderson movie.  I was very impressed that I thought I would be as impressed with  Miss You Like Crazy.  Unfortunately, the movie disappointed me too much.

The story is about Allan & Mia who met on a Pasig River Ferry Boat.  Mia who was having family problems had been choosing to show her frustrations by writing on little stones, and just leaving the stones anywhere.  One day, Allan was able to pick up one the stones and that’s when they got to know each other.

Allan is not single, he has a live-in partner but still, he continued with the romantic relationship with Mia.  Torn between 2 lovers, he has to choose one.  There’s also this scene where Allan & Mia met an old guy in a park who then said that they will end up together but it will not be an easy ride.  They will meet on February 24, 2010 on that same place (coincidentally, that was the release date of the movie… crazy.. in the movie though, it was just 2005).

Allan was indecisive and opted to stay with his live-in partner.  After 2 years, he decided to choose Mia but only to find out that Mia was already engaged to a Malaysian.  He fought for their love but wasn’t successful.

After some time, the Malaysian guy let go of Mia.  As predicted, February 24, 2010, Mia and Allan met and ended up together.

I hate the plot!  Maybe, it’s just me, but is this what the script writer wants to teach us?  To not treat relationships seriously?  I believe love is a choice.  There will be hundreds of people you can fall in love with.. it is your choice to either settle for one or continue looking.  If you don’t learn to appreciate your current partner, then you’ll never be happy.  If you’re unsure with someone, then don’t enter into a relationship.

I hated the movie but it still won’t stop me from watching Star Cinema movies 😛  I’m set to watch “Babe, I Love You” tomorrow, so I’ll  also let you know my verdict on that movie real soon.

If you wanna see the best from the movie, just watch the trailer below:

My rating for Miss You Like Crazy: 1 out of 5 stars.

Legion Movie Review

Legion_poster

We were supposed to only watch one movie.  We ended up watching two, Paano na Kaya & Legion.  Just one look at the poster & I knew that it would be a good movie considering Paul Bettany was playing the lead character.

I was very happy when I saw Dennis Quaid in the movie.  Unfortunately, even though I admire the cast, I was not impressed with the story.  The Powerhouse cast included Dennis Quaid, Paul Bettany, Tyrese Gibson, and Kate Walsh were just not enough to make a movie a great one because the story is just too weak.

The story is about God who wanted to make humans extinct.  Fallen Angel Michael (Paul Bettany’s character) didn’t agree with God’s decision.  So Michael helped a group of strangers in a diner, including a pregnant woman who is believed to bear a child that is the only hope or savior of the human race!

Actually, that’s the story, which is followed by people in the diner fighting for their life.  Possessed men attacking the diner, biting people, etc.  haaayy… felt like an apocalypse movie with a zombie twist in it.

I left the movie thinking what the story was all about and what lessons it was trying to leave with us.

My Rating for Legion: 2 out of 5 stars.

Paano na Kaya Movie Review

tumblr_kw0jtkZP6W1qzpusqo1_500

Long time no update 🙂  So, I had to work the whole weekend because of a deadline.  You know how it is, right?  Anyway, I decided to reward myself by watching a movie.  I asked Lucy, my housemate/yaya, if we could watch “Paano na Kaya” and she was excited as ever! hahahaha!

Paano na Kaya” is a Filipino Movie.  I don’t really watch them that much but I love how Star Cinema makes great Filipino movies!  The trailer of “Paano na Kaya” is just too nice to miss out.

Paano na Kaya is a story about 2 best friends, Bogs Marasigan and Mae Chua.  Best friends forever but Mae though has been in love with Bogs the whole time.  Though it hurts her, she helps Bogs take care of his surprises for his girlfriend, etc.  She has always been there whenever Bogs needs her, even went to the point that she neglects some of her responsibilities on her shop just to accompany Bogs to wherever.

Bog’s Girlfriend fell in love with someone else and broke his heart.  After that, Bogs & Mae had an interesting exchange of words.  That scene was ssoooo emotional and memorable that I actually remembered one line! hahaha!  It was so real!  I guess, it is one of the reasons why I love this movie so much.  IMHO, so realistic!

oh, wait, what’s my favorite line again?

“Ganyan talga ang Pagmamahal nagpapakaTanga… Tanga na kung Tanga, pero Mahal Kita, Mahal Kita!!!”

Actually, there are a lot of interesting lines in the movie that I could relate to.  It’s true, you know?  Each of us tend to be blinded by love and we do crazy things for love.  Such is the realities of life.

What a way to start the love month, February!  This is just a simple movie but it touches one’s heart.  It definitely made me reflect on how I see love.  The actors were so believable too!   I say, kudos to Star Cinema for a great, great romantic movie.  This is definitely worth watching.

My Rating for Paano na Kaya: 4 out of 5 stars.

White Noise 2: The Light Movie Review

uk_poster

While I was enjoying my vacation at home, I spent time watching movies on cable channel, Star Movies.  One of the movies that I was able to catch is White Noise 2: The Light.  It stars Nathan Fillon (Castle & Firely) and Katee Sackhoff (cast of Battlestar Galactica).

I described this as a suspense movie.   I was very much entertained and I believe the movie was well-made.  Though the story wasn’t that strong but still well-crafted.  This movie was a follow up to the original starring Michael Keaton: White Noise.  I should try to catch that movie via DVD or wait till it is shown on Star Movies hehehehe.  I heard that it didn’t get good reviews though, not like this 2nd installment which got 86% tomatometer (Rotten Tomatoes).

The movie was about Abe (Nathan Fillon) who witnessed the murder of his wife and son right in front of him.   It was such a devastation that he ended up taking his own life.  But he was able to survive.  Due to this, he got the ability to see the people who are about to die.

Abe was able to identify because the person would have a white light surrounding that person.  He felt that he needed to do something with the premonition and ended up saving three lives from dying.  Abe also learned that the guy who murdered his wife and kid was still alive.  He started researching about the guy and learned that he saved his wife and kid before.

Abe later realized that the killer also had an ability to see death.  As he investigated further, Abe discovered that whenever you try to save someone when they are supposed to die, natural forces will punish you for it.   Like for example, the ones that were saved will be possessed by evil after three days. And those people ended up killing innocent people in the process.

This led to the conclusion that he needed to rectify what he did by killing the people he saved.  Before he could do that though, he ended up getting killed and then the movie ended.  Ofcourse there were effects to let the movie end smoothly.

White Noise 2: The Light reminded me of Final Destination.  Final Destination was more of teeny-teeny bop movie (which was good).  White Noise: The Light on the other hand took the plot more seriously.

My rating for White Noise 2: The Light is 3 out of 5 stars.

Avatar Movie Review

Watching James Cameron’s Avatar in IMAX was one of the best decisions my colleagues made.  I was just so glad I was able to join them as Avatar is the best full 3D movie I have watched so far!

It’s like all of James Cameron’s knowledge when it comes to science fiction & technology was put into the movie, Avatar.  I can’t think of anything else they can improve on to make the movie better.  It’s perfect as it is for me.  Besides, my golly it’s in full 3D!

I actually feel that watching a whole movie in 3D can make you feel dizzy as I felt it a bit when I watched Battle of Terra before.  With Avatar, I totally dismiss the dizzy part as the movie is superb!  I mean it’s just full of awesomeness!  You all SHOULD really catch this on 3D theaters, if not, then you are truly missing BIG time!

Avatar started when humans were colonizing Pandora, a moon.  The humans are there because they want to mine a little gray rock worth 20 million a kilo.  The problem is the blue skinned Na’vi who are indigenous beings living on Pandora, have their village on the largest deposit.  What we know at the start of the movie, the Na’vi had been living harmoniously with their environment but humans couldn’t breathe the Pandoran air.   Human scientists were able to genetically engineer human-Na’vi hybridizing.  They call them avatars so humans can use these avatars to be able to visit the world.

Avatar is the classic story of the strong preying on the weak and it is up to a few good men and women to fight for something they believe in.

I will not share the whole story coz I don’t wanna spoil it.  I suggest you watch this in 3D theaters, even though it is a bit more expensive.  Don’t watch it in 2D, believe me, watching it in 3D is well worth every cent.

I can really say that Avatar is an amazing movie.  The characters were very believable.  The music was perfect. the action scenes and the casting were flawless.  I highly recommend that you go watch this movie!  It is ssssoooo good!

My rating for Avatar: 5 out of 5 stars.
