Nestle Meet & Greet

An informative & fun event indeed.  It was well-planned and well-attended by the Nestle People 🙂  It was their 1st blogging event and I’m lucky to be invited to it.

The agenda was composed of 3 major topics:

  • I Choose Wellness
  • Nestle Recipes by Chef Tess Sutilo
  • Creating Shared Value

I Choose Wellness
Nestle has been passionate about promoting wellness among us by a health campaign called “I Choose Wellness”.  The company launched the program on promoting good nutrition and physical fitness for achieving wellness & preventing lifestyle diseases.

The company organized activities nationwide to promote it:

  • regular fitness activities

  • wellness seminars

Nestle Recipes by Chef Tess Sutilo

A global food company will not be complete without recipes!

Julius Maggi Kitchen’s Chef Tess Sutilo showed us how to cook 2 recipes (Magic Fish Fingers & Papaya, Carrots & Fried Fish Salad).   Ofcourse, using Nestle products particularly Maggi Magic Sarap.

We were also served with some more food like BBQ, Tofu, Palabok after the demo.

See the demo & recipes here.

Creating Shared Value
Nestle defined this as long-term investments that benefit the country and its people, while they do business.  It’s more of a good act that will make difference in the lives of the ones in need and also inspire others to do their share.

Here are the success stories that came out of it:

  • Batzam Distributor

IMG_6758

Mang Andy or Andy Jimenez was a farmer & a scrap dealer before he became a Nestle distributor in Bataan & Zambales.

  • Business on WheelsIMG_7006

He used to deliver food items for an agency, but with an initial capital of Php4,000, Jaypee Padilla suddenly found himself transformed into an entrepreneur – with a tricycle load of goods, a ready market & a seasoned business partner.

  • Ice Cream Street SellingHerman and Madonna poses with some of their Carritos

Madonna & Herman Falcis made their 1st foray into business by distributing dressed chickens.  Encouraged by their initial success, they accepted an offer to go in micro-distribution for Nestle.  Today, their home in Laguna accomodates their small extended family & an ice cream depot – along w/ their vendors

  • Micro DistributionJoel Domacena

Joel Domacena became a MD entrepreneur in March 2008 after being in & out of the job market since 2005.  Since then, Joel has been selling more than Php10,000 worth of Nestle products daily, earning a comfortable profit plus additional bonus incentives for meeting sales quotas.

Thanks to Nestle.  I’m pretty sure lots of people are more aware of their personal wellness now 🙂  I’ll join the Milo Marathon soon, maybe next year?  We’ll see… 😛

IMG_7702

The OC guide is actually quite interesting.  Let me share what is inside the guide.

Basically, it listed down all the OC levels, their characteristics and also what post-it products best fit them.

The 3 OC levels are the ff.:

  1. Novice-OC  –  You’ve just started to realize how important it is to organize.  At this point, you most probably have a beginner’s OC tool with you wherever you go which you got as a gift from a friend.  (Product Recommendation: Post-it Notes & Page Markers)
  2. Mid-OC  –  Organizing is already a part of your daily routine.  You write your 3 most important tasks on your post-it notes.  By now, you already have your no-fail organizing basics kit that you don’t leave the house without. (Product Recommendation: Post-it Notes, Notes Cubes & Post-it Flags)
  3. Uber-OC  – Over the years of organizing, you have developed a highly effective organizing system that in the future will bear your name in its pending patent.  A clean desk and a finished to-do list by the end of the day is your Zen (Product Recommendation: Post-it Notes, Flag highlighter, Flag Pen, Pop-up Notes, Arrow Flags)
Which one are you? 🙂

iBlog5: The 5th Philippine Blogging Summit

Malcolm Theater, U.P. College of Law, Diliman, Quezon City
May 9, 2009, 9-5PM

——————–
This is the 1st ever Blogging Summit I attended and I must say that it is truly enlightening for me. I’ve been blogging for quite some time but I’m doing it the wrong way thus my site traffic isn’t as impressive as of the other bloggers. Attending the sessions really enlightened me so much that I had this renewed enthusiasm about blogging… passionate already but is becoming more passionate…

I was a bit pissed off at first because wifi internet connection suck big time and to make matters worse, there were no signals on both my globe and sun cellular phones! Eventually, I think it is a blessing because if I had ways to communicate to the outside world, I wouldn’t have listened much to the talks in the summit and wouldn’t be able to learn anything. So… I’m happy, ecstatic even!

Sharing with you the agenda of the event:

  • 9:00 – 9:15 Registration, National Anthem, Invocation, Welcome Remarks
  • 9:20 – 9:40 Blogging 101 (Micaela Rodriguez & AJ Matela)
  • 9:45 – 10:05 Photo Blogging (Faith Salazar & Fritz Tentativa)
  • 10:10 – 10:25 Break
  • 10:30 – 10:50 Video Blogging (Azrael Coladilla & Kring Elenzano)
  • 10:55 – 11:15 Mobile Blogging 101 (Edwin “Ka Edong” Soriano)
  • 11:20 – 11:40 Do’s & Dont’s of Blogging (Benj Espina & Juned Sonido)
  • 12:10 – 1:00 Lunch Break
  • 1:00 – 1:20 Legal Issues in Blogging (Atty. JJ Disini)
  • 1:30 – 2:15 Preparing Bloggers for 2010 Elections (Atty. James Jimenez), Bloggers Election Handbook Project (Janette Toral)
  • 2:30 – 3:30 Blog Marketing & Advertising Experiences in the Philippines (Mannix Pabalan, Lazzlo Lim, Kristine Mandigma, Jayvee Fernandez & Eric Ramirez)
  • 4:00 – 4:15 Break
  • 4:15 – 4:45 Blogging to the Next Level (Fitz Villafuerte & Anton Diaz)
  • 4:45 Raffle & Group Picture Taking

There were several good speakers… but my favorite presentation is from Fitz Villafuerte… He discussed to us “Top 5 Tips that Probloggers will usually NOT tell you about Making Money Online“. He was very articulate, the presentation is simple enough for everybody to understand…. I will not share with you the top 5 tips coz as the title says, probloggers will usually NOT tell you about it hehehehehe so pardon me if I can’t share the information, besides if you’re a blogger, you should be attending iblog!

Anyhow, this is truly a great learning experience… aside from the whole day long information overload hehehe. I was also able to mingle with the bloggers and also meet some bloggers for the 1st time. It was also nice to see Anton who I used to work with when he was still in P&G. His presentation about the different stages of blogging is a good one! Aha, now I know what my goal is… to be a… MAVEN!

I also realized there are different types of blogging, some just blog photos, some just blog about their day-to-day using only words, while some just blog via videos. I can say that I’m a bit of everything… I blog about my experiences using words, pictures, sometimes videos. Let’s see what my blogging life takes me..

Thanks to the iBlog organizers and also to the sponsors for this event (AyosDito.ph, POC, Smart, Jollibee, Yehey, 611 Connect, Greatwebhost, RealityTV & Alfox).

I won an iblog5 shirt too!

Bloggers Night Out by Playboy Philippines

3377802637_0e009496e6

When I hear the word “party” all I can think of is “it’s going to be fun, fun, fun!”. I immediately signed up after Azrael released the registration form to everyone

I wasn’t able to meet the bloggers during the 1st 2 events I attended so I was kinda determined that this time around, I’ll meet at least 5 bloggers. I’m glad I was able to! whopeeee!!!!

Anyway, the purpose of the party is to celebrate the new image of Playboy Philippines as it tries to move away from the usual men’s magazine to something more sophisticated. When I hear about this, I wonder what kind of change it is. Coz when we hear Playboy, all we can think of are pretty, sexy, naked ladies & playboy bunnies So I wonder how they would change that, are they going to change the concept like the one Cosmopolitan or Metro Magazine has?

I wasn’t able to get the answer in the party, coz I still see the same playboy bunnies, playmates wearing overly sexy outfits and the new cover they unveiled are extremely sexy as well. I guess I just have to buy their 1st anniversary issue and read through it to see what has changed. Let’s see….

The party was well attended, lots of bloggers were there… ready to mingle and party with everyone. I’m super thankful to Jennie as she was kind enough to give me her number so I can join them once we arrive. And with that, I did not feel out of place and I really enjoyed the party.

All guests can take pictures with the playboy bunnies and the playmates. There were also some games wherein prizes are given.

  • Early Bird Blogger (1st one who arrived the event) wins a GNC Php1,000 Certificate
  • Female & Male Sexiest Blogger of the night (voted by how loud the applause are) wins a Tequila Bottle
  • Anyone who brought the 1st issue of the magazine won a free invite to the exclusive Playboy anniversary party on April 2.
  • Jagermeister drinking contest (the winners won Php1,000 each)

I had fun, thanks for Playboy Philippines for the event. Hoping for their success. I’m thinking that organizing events like this can really help market their magazine. As for me, I really didn’t know that there is a local version of Playboy Magazine here. And us blogging about it can also help spread the word. It’s the original men’s magazine after all

Bloggers Meet BB Gandanghari

3356434368_b0c6925b12

This is the 2nd bloggers event that I joined in. I find the events extremely interesting and it just doesn’t evolve on one certain topic/personality. Since I really blog on almost everything, I’m glad that I could join in and learn at the same time, also share my thoughts on those.

I’ve always wanted to meet BB Gandanghari. He was like my celebrity crush when I was young (when she was still Rustom Padilla). Having attended this event gave me a chance to understand her more. I admire her for being brave enough to admit and stand for what she believes in.

This event was organized by POC (Philippine Online Chronicles). POC is an online publication that captures moments in politics, sports & entertainment. Pretty cool concept. You can visit their website at http://www.thepoc.net.

3356342462_03e93b288a

We were given some printed handouts with some facts/trivia about BB. Let me share what was written in one of the sheets here:

10 things you have to know about BB Gandanghari

  1. BB made her 1st public appearance at the 31st Gawad Urian on October 1, 2008, when she presented the Best Actor Award. She was then simply “Gandanghari.”
  2. Gandanghari is a real name. According to BB, she once saw a girl in UST who was named Gandanghari and she liked the name so muchshe decided to use it for herself.
  3. The name BB is short for Binibini. It is also a contraction of BB’s motto: “Be all that you can be.”
  4. BB loves white wine & fresh fruit.
  5. During photoshoots, BB loves to have mood music playing in the background. She especially likes sentimental music by Basil Valdez & Rey Valera, and the song “Alipin” by Shamrock.
  6. Because she believes that taking the stairs in her high heels is a way to lose weight, BB doesn’t like to use the elevator.
  7. BB’s height is 5’11” and she says her vital statistics are 36-25-26.
  8. Iman, BB’s labrador, is named after a famous Somali fashion model.
  9. Audrey Hepburn is BB’s favorite fashion icon and style inspiration.
  10. Updates on BB’s activities may be found in gandanghari.thepoc.net.

BB graciously answered all the questions that we had on topics like family, love, religion, fashion & career. I still would want her to be Rustom rather than BB but ofcourse we have to respect whatever she decides on and just wish her well

Aside from being able to meet BB face to face, I was able to win a book about Jose Rizal! I wasn’t really expecting it coz I know that we’re just going to attend the event and meet BB Gandanghari and this is a nice bonus. One of the organizers even mentioned that a lot of sweat and blood was put in the book so it made me appreciate the book more.
