KFC So Good

KFC So Good

It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of Kentucky Fried Chicken or shall we call KFC.  The yummiest chicken in the world is my ultimate comfort food!  Whenever I feel sad or stressed, just one box of KFC hot & crispy chicken can already make my day brighter! 🙂

The past few days, I noticed the newest commercial by KFC.  It seems like they changed their tagline.  I remember KFC as having finger-lickin’ good chicken.  Right now though, they came up with this new ‘so good’ tagline.  Upon watching the TV commercial and thinking about it, KFC So Good does make a lot of sense.

The tagline KFC So Good is simple.  It captures whatever we are feeling. As for me, whenever I get to eat KFC food, I just immediately feel so good! It’s a great feeling and I guess that’s what KFC is all about.

Why is KFC So Good anyways?

  • 11 Secret Herbs & Spices

It is definitely the recipe that makes us wanna go back to KFC over and over.  Those eleven secret herbs & spices are just perfect!  I wish we can find out what they are.  I guess it’s going to be KFC’s secret forever hehehe 😛

  • Gravy

KFC Gravy

While I love KFC chicken, I know that even the sauce is addicting!  KFC’s gravy sauce has the right consistency, thickness and taste!  Perfect for Filipino taste buds!  Extremely yummy!  Admittedly, I can’t get enough of it as I use the gravy not just in the chicken but also over rice!

  • Fresh Chicken Delivered Daily

I didn’t care much where KFC chicken came from but it was so nice to know that the company does ensure that we get good quality food.  Do you know that KFC doesn’t use frozen chicken?  KFC actually gets daily delivery of chicken.  Now we know that whatever we order is fresh and newly cooked 🙂

  • Cooked with Passion with Real Chefs

KFC Fried Chicken

I always thought that the people cooking the chicken in the KFC kitchen are just normal employees.  I had the shock of my life when we were informed that the ones preparing them are actually chefs (real ones)!!!

KFC chicken are actually breaded with the 11 secret spices by hand and then pressure-fried.  Wow! 😀

Those 4 reasons I mentioned above are definitely the main reasons why KFC is so good.  In connection to the So Good tagline of KFC, the KFC So Good Moments website is now up.

KFC So Good Website

We can share our own So Good moment in the website.  It can be about love, career, family, friends or travel.  Entries can be a photo, a video or a written story.

There’s even an ongoing contest that will run for 3 months.  Every month, KFC will award 15 best stories!

  • 3 winners (one from each category) will win GCs for 11 KFC buckets!
  • 12 consolation prizes will be given as well in the form of GC worth of Php500.

KFC Gift Certificate

While we’re at the topic, let me share my personal top 11 so good list.  This can be a good practice for me before I finally submit my official entry in the KFC So Good Moments website 😛

  1. KFC is so good.  Their chicken is just unbelievably delicious!  No other chicken comes close.
  2. Whenever I reach my goals, whether small or big, is an achievement in itself.  The feeling is definitely so good when we succeed!
  3. Letters or notes of appreciation are so good!
  4. Being productive is so good 🙂
  5. Getting my favorite gadget is so good.
  6. Being able to give back is so good!
  7. Seeing other people genuinely happy is so good too!  Sometimes, seeing other people very happy makes our heart melt 🙂
  8. Writing this blog entry for my favorite fast food restaurant is so good! 😀
  9. Being healthy is so good.
  10. To be successful is so good.
  11. Thinking positive things is so good!

It’s funny that as I write this post, I was eating hot & crispy chicken.  Hahaha!  Talk about coincidence.  I guess KFC is just so good! 😀

Breakfast Buffet at Microtel Davao

Breakfast Buffet at Microtel Davao

As promised in my previous post, sharing with you the food that Microtel Davao serves every morning.  If you’re staying overnight in Microtel, the breakfast buffet is already included in the room rates.  However, if you want to just go there to have breakfast, you can do so by paying Php 200 per person.

It’s pretty cheap for a breakfast buffet right?  The buffet is not spectacular but I believe it’s more than enough to fill our empty tummy 😀

What I liked with Microtel’s breakfast buffet is that they kept it simple (just like what they did with their rooms).  Service was definitely awesome!  The servers were always ready to give their smiles to hungry customers and ready to serve when needed.

I just find it funny that the songs in the background were love songs hehehe 😛

The selection of food was good too!  It was just like our typical filipino breakfast but they do also have breads, cereal and some more stuff.  Let me just share what they have through pictures.  I do apologize in advance if they made you hungry.

Ozine Fest 2011

Ozine Fest 2011

I was getting more and more curious why a whole lot of people love anime including my friends over at Game Ops!  So when my friends planned to go to Ozine Fest 2011, I told them I wanna go too!

I wanted to see and experience what the annual convention in the anime community is.  I also thought it would be such a great chance to practice my photography skills too!

So what is Ozine Fest?  Ozine Fest is an anime convention held annually at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall.  It’s organized by Otakuzine Anime Magazine, an anime magazine published in the Philippines.

The event features a whole lot of activities such as cosplay competition, tournament, art contests and exhibition booths.

I was actually overwhelmed when I attended the event this year.  I never thought that the place would be that jam-packed!  On that day that we were there, people in costumes were all over the mall (like literally!).  It was like all those anime shows we’ve seen on videos came to life!  It was a fun and cute sight to see.

Inside the hall, you get to see a whole lot of cosplayers.  There were anime toy displays, books, videos, costumes and a whole lot more.

ozine fest 2

Art contest was held too with several fans participating.  I wish I can join too!  Maybe next time 🙂

Ozine fest 3

There were shows and contests too like battle of the bands, cosplay competition, dance competition and even karaoke!  See the audience in the picture below?  It was just a fraction of the crowd!  I actually felt like everyone came together in SM Megamall for the Ozine Fest!  It was well-attended and you can see that everyone was having a good time!

ozine fest 4

I loved the anime toy display and I enjoyed taking pictures of them.  I’m sure they cost a lot!  A great collection to have if you’re an anime fan! 🙂

ozine fest 5

While there were too much activities in Ozine Fest 2011, my eyes were set on the cosplayers.  I loved their costumes and their passion to play the part of the character they were trying to portray.  Bravo!  I somehow think that why don’t I try cosplaying even just for once?  Hey, I might do it next month at the ToyCon 2011!  Well, let’s see 😛

Here are the interesting folks I took pictures of, complete pictures can be found in my Photography blog but my favorites are the ones below:

Ozine Fest 1

scared now? 😛

ozine fest 6

I was wondering how she went through the day coz it was definitely hard to breathe with all those covered in her face.

ozine fest 7

Even bumbleebee graced the event!

ozine fest 8

She looked like a doll, soooo cute!

ozine fest 9

This was pure makeup and she did it herself!  Very talented lady!  I loved it!

ozine fest 10

I don’t know the character she was trying to imitate but I really loved her look!  She was super pretty in her costume! 🙂

During Ozine Fest 2011, costumes were being sold too!  I tried a black hat with red designs just to see how I’d look like!  Hey, I looked decent in it!  It might work if I try some costumes next time haha!  Let’s see… Let’s see.

How about you?  Were you able to attend Ozine Fest this year?  I’m so happy that I did!   I can imagine myself attending more of this in the future.

Yoshinoya

Yoshinoya

After I got invited to taste the Lenten offering of Yoshinoya, I couldn’t stop but feel uneasy.  I need to step foot inside a Yoshinoya Restaurant!  I was craving for beef bowl for the longest time.

It was heavenly when we entered the restaurant finally, I was excited to finally have my serving of Yoshinoya’s famous dish!

Yoshinoya must be my favorite Japanese fast food restaurant in Manila.  Come to think of it, are there any other?

I appreciate the beautiful interiors of Yoshinoya.  I find it adorable that fast food places here in the Philippines are investing their resources in making their restaurants look so much better.  They can actually compete already with normal restaurants.  Would you believe in the picture below that it was just a fastfood restaurant serving quick affordable Japanese food?

yoshinoya ambiance

We were starving and I believe we ordered too much!  What the heck!  We still finished all our orders.  We had a complete meal with soup, appetizer, main dish, dessert and drink!

  • Gyoza (Php 90)

yoshinoya gyoza

As much as I enjoy gyoza, I felt that the price wasn’t fast food-ish.  Php90 for a 4-piece gyoza, too expensive 🙁

  • Pork Tonkatsu Bento (Php 145)

yoshinoya katsudon

You have a big appetite?  Then Yoshinoya’s bento is for you.  You can choose between tempura, mixed seafood, pork tonkatsu & Japanese fried chicken bentos.

My friend, however, has chosen Pork Tonkatsu.  Bento has rice, veggies & tofu included too!

  • Beef Bowl (Php 99)

yoshinoya beef bowl

Beef Bowl was the sole reason why I kept going back to Yoshinoya.  Gee, I was so giddy when I was eating my order of beef bowl. hahaha!  I had to order for extra sauce (Php5) as it was the sauce that made the dish taste so magical.

  • Beef Bowl Power Meal

yoshinoya beef meal

Just in case you want a full meal then you can order the power meal.  It has red iced tea, beef bowl, miso soup and coffee jelly!  Yum yum!

I was able to satisfy my craving and it did affect my day.  So funny that if you get something you want, your day seems to be so complete right after.  So that was how my day went when I had my serving of Yoshinoya’s Beef bowl.  So happy… so jolly! 😀

Banchetto Overnight Street Food Fiesta

Banchetto

I’ve been hearing a lot about Banchetto.  So I was ecstatic when I knew that my friends and I would all be going that friday night.  I was ready to be awake all night long just to be able to experience what Banchetto Overnight Street Food Fiesta was like.

Even if we knew that Banchetto starts at 12 midnight, we still went as early as 10PM.  As expected, there weren’t any stalls yet.  Around 11PM, vendors were starting to setup one by one.  We walked around still just to get a feel of it.

banchetto unprepared

I was so excited that I started taking pictures even if 90% of the stalls weren’t ready yet.  I was watching out for the barbeque/grilled dishes.  Look at the smile on my face below.

roch excited banchetto

Just as I thought that we would be relaxed during the visit, I got the shock of my life when it turned midnight.  There were TOO MANY people!!!!  I can’t hardly move while walking around the stalls.  I felt that I was just being dragged along the crowd just to be able to proceed further.  They were that many.

Anywhere I look (left, right, front & back), there were people!  It was truly a street party of food AND people!

banchetto big crowd

The front stairs of office buildings nearby Banchetto were jampacked too.  That was just 5-10% of the crowd of Banchetto.

banchetto crowd

Banchetto offers a wide selection of food items.  It was overwhelming actually.  I was watching over my weight so I was only able to sample a few but if I didn’t, I would have eaten so much.

See this mouthwatering barbeque?  They were Angus Beef skewers.  Who wouldn’t want one?  They were pretty affordable too!

banchetto barbeque

My favorite would be the different barbeque dishes.  They have like so many of them but I decided to stick with Isaw & hotdogs.  Street food galore!!  You can be assured that the food are clean.  Prices are a bit higher than normal but still affordable and cheaper than in the malls.  The food are cooked fresh so you have to wait for a few minutes before it gets done.  I believe it’s all worth it.  Newly cooked food are the yummiest to eat 🙂

banchetto grill selection

Banchetto also has stalls that sells rice dishes.  Very cheap at Php50-60!  If you are trying to have late dinner or heavy midnight snack, then this is for you!

banchetto rice meals

This was one unique item, the mini tacos!  I said to myself that I’d go back to buy one set but due to the vast amount of food, I forgot!  I actually only remembered when I was reviewing the pics I took at Banchetto.  Oh well, there’s always next time.

mini tacos banchetto

There were pizza, pasta, lasagna too!  I wouldn’t wanna eat those as it can make your stomach full right away.  As it was my 1st visit in Banchetto, I wanted to eat light so I can eat MORE! 😀

banchetto pizza

You can buy cakes for take-out.  Just in case, you have family members who can’t get awake that late.  It would be such a nice surprise when they see you brought pasalubong for them.

banchetto cakes

I was really shocked when I saw lechon & sushi in one of the stalls hahaha!  The things businessmen can think of selling.  Since it’s in Banchetto, then it should be successful.  I have heard of stalls closing down because of poor sales.  Based on my observation during my visit, seems like they got the right formula already.

banchetto food

I’ll definitely be back as there were so much to try out!  I will make sure I try some more sinful dishes hehehe 😛

banchetto selections

I know a lot of people have been going to Banchetto to eat Monster Burger.  Honestly, I wasn’t able to notice it while we were roaming around.  My friends told me that it’ll take at least an hour to get your own order.  I guess I have to make sure that when I go to Banchetto next time, I would order the monster burger first before anything else.  I took a picture of a man cooking burgers, not sure if this was the popular monster burger they were talking about though.

banchetto master burger

Another popular stall was the Hot Siz stall wherein 2 beautiful Korean ladies were selling barbeque dishes.  They were smiling all throughout and were striking poses when they saw cameras flashing at them.  They were soooo cute!  No wonder they never ran out of customers.

Korean Hot Siz Banchetto

While everyone was going gaga on Korean stalls and monster burgers, my eyes were fixed on isaw.  Yes, isaw!  I was eating isaw all throughout and I just kept ordering and ordering till I can’t eat anymore.  They were pretty cheap at Php20-30 per piece.  There were large ones and small ones.  I prefer the bigger one but gee, just by blogging about it, I wanna drive to Banchetto and eat some more.  Unfortunately, it’s not friday today.

Banchetto

Banchetto is only open during friday midnight till saturday 11AM.  I’m so glad I finally visited the place.  Banchetto will definitely be one of my favorite places to go to during weekends.  I cannot wait to go back.  I cannot wait!

P.S.  Banchetto is currently closed but I’m positive it’ll be back soon.  If you’re like me and you wanna support Banchetto, then go over this link and show your love.
