Slumdog Millionaire
Posted by Rochelle Sy Chua On March 11, 2009
I became soo interested in this movie after watching the Oscars. It was like nominated 10 times and won most of it including Best Picture. They also performed there and that also made me curious! ![]()
Watched this movie with Joana when we had our girl bonding last week. We are both so impressed with the movie. I do agree that this is definitely oscar-worthy.
The movie started with a question:
“Jamal Malik is one question away from winning 20 million rupees. How did he do it?”
- He cheated
- He’s lucky
- He’s a genius
- It is written
Jamal is a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. And the story just unfolds there. As each question was asked, Jamal’s story is also being shown.. revealing that Jamal knows all the answers as he has experienced them all… I don’t wanna go into details as I think this is not yet shown here in Manila. But you get the gist..
At the end of the movie, you’ll know the answer to the question of how Jamal won the money.
There’s also a dance number at the end with all the cast and other dancers… cool & nice to watch.
I love it! ![]()

Five Cows Resto & Ice Cream Bar
4th Level Trinoma Mall, Edsa, Quezon City, Metro Manila

——————-
I’ve been there before but I wasn’t a serious blogger then… so when I had the chance to eat there again, I made sure that I took pictures… so here I am… blogging! ![]()
I just remembered that their steaks are really good. We ordered something different today.
Here are what we ordered:
- Grilled Maple Porkies (Php290)
In short, porkchops! Served with vegetables & mashed potatoes. I ate one piece, just normal porkchops, nothing special. hehehehe but looks good though.
- Salpicao (Php260)
U.S. beef chunks cooked with garlic served with vegetables & garlic rice. This is a different kind of salpicao… full of sauce, very tasty… but I prefer the common kind of salpicao… just with plain garlic..
- Iced Tea – Single Serve (Php40), Bottomless (Php75)
- White Chocolate Macademia (Php180)
This one I SUPER over to the MAX love! grabe it’s soooooooooooooo delicious!!!!! One of the best ice cream I tasted EVER! but it’s a very expensive one though and I think one person cannot finish this.
Anyway, this is a white chocolate ice cream with macademia cookies, toasted macademia nuts & cookie chunks. I don’t know what to say but this is a well-made ice cream. yummy!
- Bubble Gum Blast (Php110)
I didn’t order this but my friend told me that it tasted good. I believe my friend coz the ice cream I ordered is super duper delicious hehee.
Five Cows’ main meals are just normal but their desserts are good. So if ever I’ll go back there, it’ll be because I want to have desserts there. You should really their ice cream! ![]()
Nach-O-Fast

Nach-O-Fast
4/F Eastwood City Walk, 2188 E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue, Bagumabayan, Libis, Quezon City
——————–
Eastwood mall doesn’t seem to have a lot of choices for Movie snacks.
We haven’t eaten dinner that time and only have 20minutes to get food.
We have chosen Nach-O-Fast… it says “fast” in its name so could be quick right? hehehe.
Their combo meals caught my eye. Me & my friend ordered our combo meal of choice:
- Combo Meal 1 (Php150)
My friend ordered this. It is a combination of Nachos, Cheese Flautas, drink & a Roast chicken wrap. I’m not really fond of breads & wraps but the cheese flautas is really tempting.. yummy!
- Combo Meal 4
I ordered this. I really love corndogs!!!!!! anything corn and anything hotdogs hahaha! Kidding aside, combo meal 4 is a combination of Nachos, Quesadillas, Drink & Corn Dog. Super yummy! I was able to finish everything before we even went to the theater. hehhe.
At first, I was kinda disappointed that I have to call the store personnel quite a few times before they can attend to us. 2 staff personnel were busy cooking & preparing while the other one is busy sweeping the floor. But later I realized that they are just short-handed, seems like all 3 are all-around peeps… they can either serve food, prepare food, clean the store, act as cashier, etc.
The food is good! I love it! I hope they open more branches near the cinemas like in Powerplant mall, megamall or Ayala cinemas. This is a good alternative to popcorn & other common movie snacks. ![]()

After we finished watching a movie, we went to Grilla for drinks. The advertisement for this alcohol drink is really soo eye-catching that we ordered a bucket.

When it was decided that we’re going to have our dinner at Grams Diner, my friends seem to be so confident and happy that they are going to eat good food. With that, my expectations went up… it didn’t disappoint ![]()
I’m very satisfied w/ the food ordered and I’ll surely go back soon.
Here are what we ordered:
- Philly Cheesesteak (Php245)
Everyone except me tried a piece of it. I’m just not fond of sandwiches/burgers but based on their feedback, I can say that it’s very good.
- Mom’s Grilled Pork Chops 1pc (Php135), 2pcs (Php255)
I didn’t order this but was able to take a bite of it. yummy indeed… porkchops cooked in a nice way.
- Country Fried Chicken 1pc(Php85), 2pc (Php145)
This one I ordered.. reminds me of Pancake House’s chicken… I felt the serving is small (including the garlic rice). After I finished everything, I felt that I’m still craving for more.. dont know if it was because I liked the food so much or the serving was really small or I was really extremely hungry hehehe ![]()
- Devilishly Good BBQ Chicken (Php175)
- BLT Salad (Php165)
This one looks really yummy… and my colleague said it tasted good.. I will try this next time..
- Iced Tea (Php65)
- Fresh Fruit Shake (Php95)
Aside from the food, this board also caught my attention:

I think guests do write any messages that they want to in the board as remembrance. Looks good… ![]()
Overall, a nice dining experience.. a very big factor is I was with several colleagues who are so nice to hang out with combined with good tasting food.
