Recipe: Sago
January 3, 2014

There are so many things we can do with sago. One of the many dishes that I liked which uses sago as an ingredient is mango sago. One day, I will learn how to make that. Sago’t gulaman, green bean soup, and red bean soup are other dishes that I wish to recreate too!
When I saw the sago that I bought from the supermarket, I was clueless on what to do. I didn’t know how to cook it! This may sound silly but I’m really just a total newbie in the kitchen. I had to research to understand how to prepare sago.
Luckily, Noob Cook has a very educational post (complete with photos) on how to cook sago. Using the site as reference, I was able to successfully cook sago! Yehey!
Now, I’ve already done the first step. To be able to cook sago. Maybe soon, I’ll be able to make my very own mango sago ๐
- Sago
- water
- pot
- sieve
- Boil water in a pot. Just put enough water that would cover the sago fully.
- When the water is boiling, add the sago.
- Simmer for 15 minutes. Stir the water & sago to prevent the sago from sticking in the pot.
- After 15 minutes, sago had turned partially translucent. Turn off the heat, & cover the pot with lid.
- Sago will continue to cook by itself. Let it stand for 10 minutes.
- Once sago is fully translucent, itโs cooked.
- Rinse the cooked sago through the sieve using running water to remove excess starch.
- Keep sago in a bowl of water until ready to use.
- Serve sago drained.
