Recipe: Hotdog in Thick Sauce

A friend taught me how to cook tinola and the spice that my friend used during the tutorial was Magic Sarap.  If you use Magic Sarap, you would know that the spice is being sold at supermarkets in a bundle.  So I got myself several extra magic sarap.  I wondered how I can use them because I do not think I would cook tinola nine times in a single month.

Luckily, there are recipes at the back of the Magic Sarap package.  One of those dishes featured is hotdog in a thick sauce (sarciadong hotdog).  I tried it out today and was glad with the result.  Now I don’t need to cook sardines fried each time, hehehe!

Hotdog Sardines

Ingredients
  1. 1/2 kg hotdogs, sliced diagonally
  2. 1/4 cup water, used to cook hotdog
  3. 1/4 cup water, used to add to sauce
  4. 4 tbsp margarine
  5. 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  6. 1 pc onion, cut into rings
  7. 1/2 cup ketchup
  8. 1/2 sachet 8g Maggi Magic Sarap
  9. 1 tbsp sugar
Instructions
  1. Put water into the pan and add hotdogs.
  2. Bring hotdogs to a simmer.
  3. When pan is almost dry, add margarine.
  4. Saute hotdogs for 2 minutes
  5. Set aside hotdogs on one side of the pan and add garlic to the other side.
  6. Sauce garlic for 1 minute.
  7. Add onions, then sauté for another minute.
  8. Add ketchup & water. Bring to a simmer.
  9. Season with Maggi Magic Sarap and sugar.
  10. Serve hot & enjoy!

Oh yea!  Had the sarciadong hotdogs for lunch!  I was just too proud of myself for being able to cook another new dish.  Have you tried cooking this?  Try it!  It’s a good way to cook hotdogs in a different style.
